When you least expect it, an item that had crossed over to unfashionable or corny is fashionable once again. Sweater vests are among these fashion pieces. In the 1960s, these vests were very, very popular.
They were mostly worn on colder days, as well as in winter months and other colder months of the year. Obviously, this is because these vests serve to provide extra warmth when needed. At the same time, they are sleeveless, and this ensures that they not provide excess or too much warmth, to ensure that the wearer does not end up with pit stains, or feeling stuffy in his or her clothes. Just the same, these vests are fashionable once again – not only among the ‘nerdy’ types – but even among many celebs as Tiger Woods, Justin Timberlake and even Ashton Kutcher. Plenty of style icons have been spotted in these vests.
While these vests are popular in plain colors, there is simply no limit when it comes to the designs on them. There are those that wear these vests in colors and patterns that are wild and vivid, and some, in more conservative designs. At any rate, they serve both the fashion conscious and otherwise. They are also available at different prices, as some make use of materials that are more expensive than others. There are variations of these vests that are made out of synthetic fiber, while some are made of cashmere woolens. This variation in materials used means that the sweater vest can be worn when it is cold, or even when it is warm – in fact these vests are even worn in countries in Asia where the weather is warm.
Sweater vests are even worn by football players and golf pros, perhaps because they make for great warm-ups and have a rather ‘sporty’ feel to them. In the UK, these are worn by those that play cricket.
